The Professional Association for Trans Health Ireland (PATHI) is pleased to announce that we have been selected as a recipient of funding through the Certified Proud Fund to support our Blueprints for Better Care workshop series.
PATHI was founded to advance quality care for trans and gender diverse (TGD) people in Ireland by uniting professionals of all identities across healthcare, law and policy, advocacy and community organising, research and education. We provide a collaborative space for people to connect across areas of practice, support one another, learn together, and drive change. By building knowledge, promoting evidence-based practice, and strengthening accountability, PATHI works to foster inclusive, person-centred care.
The funding from Certified Proud enables us to deepen a core strand of our work: bringing together the TGD community and healthcare professionals to collectively design responsive, evidence-informed pathways for trans healthcare in Ireland.
Blueprints for Better Care: Co-Designing Inclusive Trans Health Clinics with Community Members and Providers is a research project that brings together healthcare professionals and the TGD community in participatory, world café-style workshops. Participants collaboratively explore and create practical clinic models based on the principles of informed consent and self-determination.
With support from the Certified Proud Fund, PATHI is delivering workshops across the country in Cork, Carlow, Dublin, Galway, and Letterkenny. The evidence and insights gathered will inform a national report and support wider education, advocacy, and policy work.
As Nicola Cantwell, Allied Health Field Representative for PATHI, shared during the Certified Proud Awards, services “must be designed collaboratively and based on the wants and needs of the trans and gender diverse community.” Blueprints for Better Care creates essential space for this co-production, helping to shape what trans healthcare in Ireland could and should look like.
