Build confidence in gender-affirming care through PATHI's sequential three-module educational programme for healthcare professionals taking place 11-13 September in Cork.
The Professional Association for Trans Health Ireland (PATHI) Trans Health Training for Healthcare Providers is a three-module sequential training programme designed to build the skills and competencies of healthcare workers in the care of trans and gender diverse (TGD) people.
These modules are open to all but aimed primarily at GPs and nurses, working across primary care and sexual health. The training ensures cultural and communication skills are developed firstly, using principle-based care, moving toward more active clinical roles and competencies.

Online option: Friday 11 September | 7:30 - 9:30 PM
In-person option: Saturday 12 September | 2:00 PM - 3:30 PM | UCC (requires TransCare registration)
The first of our three-module series, Foundations is intended for anyone who supports trans people, in any way related to healthcare. We will explore what you need to know about TGD people, engage with principles related to trans healthcare and begin to enable system-wide change as an active ally.
In-person only: Sunday 13 September | 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM | UCC
The second of our three modules, Intermediate explores more clinical queries, and is intended more for healthcare providers who engage with these in their professional duties. We will explore sexual health topics, as well as general health needs of TGD individuals and finally we will delve into GAC topics that are adjunctive to prescribing hormones, in preparation for the final module.
In-person only: Sunday 13 September | 1:00 PM - 3:00 PM | UCC
The final of our three modules, Prescribing is intended for GPs and nurses across primary care and sexual health. The module focuses on a five-step prescribing process for gender-affirming care. We will explore background material about the informed consent model, within the Irish context, while drawing approaches from successful clinics internationally. We will then explore step-by-step clinical reasoning, working through frequently encountered problems together.
